Ski Safety U.S is a sister site to NSAA, a non-profit trade association which supports the ski industry through the development of resources, programs and education for mountain safety, sustainability, growth and inclusion.
NSAA Ski Safety US
Our role
Ski Safety U.S. was a unique project for us at Eternity. We took content from the NSAA site and crafted a sister site that made safety information easy to navigate and understand for a broader audience. Building a fresh brand from scratch, while incorporating elements of NSAA, was both a challenge and an exciting creative opportunity. We designed a new logo that led to a custom pattern and icon usage throughout the site.
The site features embedded videos, and we integrated Google Translate to ensure accessibility for all. One unique touch? We swapped out a safety sign image when switching to the Spanish version of the site. Built for both winter and summer seasons, Ski Safety U.S. is designed for young families and millennials looking for a quick, easy way to check out slope icons before hitting the slopes.
Branding
Because the two are sisters, we wanted the Ski Safety U.S branding to reflect NSAA's existing style. We took their iconic slope and folded it into a caution sign. Minimal and clean, this logo expresses care and awareness towards folks participating in mountain activities of all seasons. Our primary colors include a striking yellow and charcoal, commonly used in safety signs. Our secondary colors, crimson red and steady blue, add a subtle tone of emergency and reliability. It was known we wanted an effective tag because of our logo's simplicity. "Safety Starts with Us" includes our messaging which centers around the notion that the education around mountain regulations can be found on our site and it takes a village to keep our community safe.
Accessibility
Performing an ADA audit takes time, but allows us to identify problematic parts of the website. We apply solutions to these identified areas throughout the website while referencing the WCAG guidelines and account for Level AA compliance standards.
We're proud to say that NSAA Ski Safety US now has a Level AA compliance rated website! To learn more about ADA, please visit our accessibility page.
